For all intents and purposes, the NC215S is a regular netbook. It has a dual-core Atom N570 processor running at 1.66GHz, 1GB of RAM, and a choice of 250GB or 320GB of storage. It had a 10.1″ screen with 1024×600 resolution with Windows 7 Starter pre-installed.
What makes the NC215S different from other netbooks is that the lid is lined with solar panels. Although the solar panels are not designed to charge the battery of the netbook, these panels are designed to prolong the battery-life. How long you might ask? It is reported to last as long as 14.5 hours. To protect the fragile solar panels, the whole enclosure is designed to keep scratches to a minimum.
Do you want one? Unfortunately, the Samsung N215S is only available in Russia in August.
Comment below if you think that adding solar panels on a netbook is something that you want or not especially in our tropical climate.
