Dell has refreshed its whole corporate and consumer lines of laptops which includes Intel’s 2nd generation Core processors. These processors offer more power while still retaining their power efficiency. This means that you get more power while retaining and sometime exceeding the battery life of its previous Core processors. These 2nd generation Core processors, codenamed Sandy Bridge also offers an integrated GPU within the Sandy Bridge chip to offer faster performance than previous Intel integrated GPUs while still offering excellent battery performance.
Latitude E-Series
As a business laptop the Latitude E-series prioritizes enhanced security and mobile experience. The new Latitude E-series includes more than 100 design improvements and a range of new features to meet evolving business needs. In terms of security, the Dell Latitude E-series has Dell Data Protection and Remote Data Delete software to protect your business’ confidential data and a Free Fall Sensor that parks the hard drive when in the event of a fall so as to prevent any data loss. The Dell Latitude E-series will also support Citrix and VMWare remote desktop clients.
For the IT Department of any business, you’ll have an easier time managing the Latitude E-series because of the common parts accross its 26 models such as the battery, dock, and keyboard footprint.
Vostro 3000 Series
For those that want a bit of style in their business laptops, Dell also launched the Vostro 3000 series. We reviewed its predecessor, the Vostro V130, and we liked the performance and style but wished for longer battery life. The Vostro 3000 promises batter battery life with even up to 12 hours on select models. Now, those are numbers we’d like to see and experience. The Vostro 3000 series comes in either 13-, 14-, 15-, and 17-inch display models. All models come with SRS Premium Voice Pro software for clear communication to clients and co-workers in a virtual conference. Other features include a chiclet keyboard, virtual collaboration software, security software, as well as a fingerprint reader and USB3.0. The Vostro 3000 series also comes in three premium colors – Aberdeen Silver, Lucerne Red, and Brisbane Bronze – and a durable aluminum finish.
Inspiron R
On the consumer front, the Inspiron R heads the line with literally lid popping design. The new Switch by Design Studio allows the lids of the Inspiron R series to be replaced with just a pop and a click. Design Studio offer exclusive selections from outstanding independent artists, designers and partners including OPI and Threadless and charitable partners, Susan G. Komen for the Cure and (PRODUCT)RED, where a portion of proceeds benefit each organization, respectively. And new with SWITCH by Design Studio are four Eastern-inspired designs from the India collection.
What about performance? Along with the 2nd generation Core i3, i5, and i7 processors from Intel, you can get up to 8GBs of RAM, SRS Premium Audio, WiDi (Wireless Display) to wirelessly display full 1080p resolution and 5.1 audio to any WiDi compatible home theater system. Form and function, in one package.
XPS 15z
For those that doesn’t want any compromises in their mobile computer, Dell offers the XPS 15z. The XPS 15z is the first of a new design for the Inspiron and XPS models that deliver the ultimate blend of style and performance. The 2nd generation Intel Core processors are paired with Nvidia GPUs that not only offer graphics performance but 3DTV capabilities as well. The XPS 15z has built-in WiFi, Bluetooth 3.0, USB 3.0, 15.6-inch WLED display with optional 1080p resolution, backlit keyboard, and Nvidia Optimus technology that switches between the integrated GPU to save on power and discrete GPU for more GPU hungry applications. Power and Style, Beauty and Performance, in one thin package. They said it couldn’t be done, the Dell XPS 15z begs to differ.
