Leading wireless services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is introducing a new way for subscribers to enjoy the Internet as it launches its new “Always On” Internet packages.

Always On is a volume-based package which allows casual mobile Internet surfers to pay only for the data they wish to consume.

Estimated monthly data consumption

  • Email: 10MB
  • Game Downloads: 100MB
  • Chat: 5MB
  • Social Networking : 20MB
  • Video Streaming: 100MB

If a subscriber, for example, would only like to use his or her smartphone only for sending email and checking on social networking sites, he or she could avail of a 25MB Always On plan for only P20 a day. Meanwhile, more active Internet users who are into video streaming and data tethering can avail of a 2GB Always On package for P995 valid for one month.

Volume Price Validity Keyword Access Code
25MB P20 1 day ON<space>20 Send to 2200
50MB P30 1 day ON<space>30
250MB P300 30 days ON<space>300
500MB P500 30 days ON<space>500
1GB P750 30 days ON<space>750
2GB P995 30 days ON<space>995

Always On is available to Smart Buddy, Smart Gold, Talk N’ Text, and Smart Bro subscribers. To activate a package, simply send the keyword to 2200 via mobile phone or via the Smart Bro user menu on the computer. Users may purchase any number of packages simultaneously as they see fit. Validity of subscription starts upon availing of a plan. A P1 maintaining balance is required.

Registered Smart Bro users can also avail of the packages from Smart Web Connect at http://smart.com.ph/connect.

“Our mobile subscribers are getting more and more diverse, which is why we are introducing more flexible offerings” said Smart Broadband Internet and Data Services Head Giovanni Bacareza. “With Always On, we’re making it easier for Filipinos to enjoy mobile Internet connectivity at a price that fits their budget. We don’t want them not worry about data charges beyond what they are willing to spend.”

Always On reduces the risk of unexpected data charges as it notifies users via SMS once they have consumed 80% of their package. Upon expiration, charging will revert to the regular bucket pricing of P10 for every 30 minutes of use.

UNLI for everybody

Users who prefer a time-based Internet scheme can still avail of an UNLIsurf package starting at just P50 for a whole day of unlimited surfing. UNLIsurf also comes in P300 (7 days) and P1,200 (30 days) denominations.

Meanwhile, those who would only like to access specific sites such as Facebook, Friendster, Multiply, and Twitter can sign up for a “Web UNLI” package for only P20/site per day.

Panu po to nid pa ba mag subscribe sa Smart Bro UnliSurf Packages bagu magagamit yan? or pag nag subscribe na ba sa Smart Bro Volume Data Packages(always on internet package) unlimited nrin yung internet surfing?

    for example: yung 250MB P300 30 days ON300 Send to 2200
    – so does it mean na unlimited nrin ung internet for 30 days?

Short answer is No, you don’t get unlimited data with Always On. Smart Always On mean that you are essentially given a set capacity to use. From your example, you pay PhP300 to consume 250MB which is valid for 30 days. After 30 day, your Always On plan expires whether you consume all the the 250MB or not.

This is different from the previous set up which is time-based wherein you pay for the time you use Smart Bro and not the amount of data. For example, you pay PhP10 for 30mins no matter the amount of data you consume.
