Acer today has unveiled its Ultrabook offering, the Aspire S3. The Ultrabooks are the PCs answer to Apple’s Macbook Air. The Ultrabooks offer an ultraslim form factor that does not compromise in performance, and most importantly, price.
It’s hard not compare the Aspire S3 to the Macbook Air. From the wedge-shaped form-factor to its clickable-touchpad, it’s certainly similar. On the other hand, Acer uses its own Cool Airlow technology to help with the air flow of the internal components of the S3. Ports abound with an HDMI, SD card slot, and two USB ports, definitely more ports than the Macbook Air.
With Acer Instant On, Acer claims around 2 seconds boot time from sleep and around 50 days of standby time. The Aspire S3 also has Acer’s Instant Connect allows you to connect to the network almost instantly.
The Acer Aspire S3 comes with an Intel Core i5-2467M processor running at 1.6GHz. That might not sound like much but the i5 has Turbo Boost which allows the processor to run as high as 2.30GHz. The processor comes with Intel’s HD3000 graphics. It comes with 4GBs of RAM and a storage combination of both 320GB HDD and 20GB SSD to provide both speed and storage capacity in the S3. Acer is claiming up to 6 hours of battery life. All in a slim package and a PhP44,900 price tag.
