The Samsung Galaxy Y for the Youth Generation

When one hears smartphone, the word “expensive” comes to mind. And why not? Most smartphones still over around the PhP12-15,000 in the mid-range with high-end smartphones coming at around PhP25-30,000. There are smartphones that are around the PhP10,000 and below but you do sacrifice a lot for the money. What most people want is a mid-range smartphone that is below the PhP10,000 mark.

This is where Samsung Galaxy Y comes in. Geared towards the youth market, Samsung’s latest Android phone has finally breached the PhP10,000 barrier and in a big way. With a SRP of PhP5,990, you don’t get a below average smartphone either. The Galaxy Y comes with an 832MHz processor and the ability to surf at 7.2 Mbps with HSDPA. You also get the latest Android OS for smartphones, version 2.3, aka Gingerbread. With Gingerbread, you also get the full suite of Android Apps available in the Android Market.

Aside from the processor and HSDPA, the Galaxy Y comes with a 3” multi-touchscreen LCD with a 240×320 resolution and a 2MP rear-facing camera. It also comes with a 2GB SD card to install your apps and store your music and photos on. This means you tweetand check Facebook while listening to your favorite tunes and taking photos, all in a small size and a lightweight 98g.
