When confronted with the word Defender, images of superheroes come out for comic book geeks, the Land Rover Defender for motoring enthusiasts, and the Defender series from OtterBox for tech nerds. Since we, at Techindustriya (and our sister site, Autoindustriya) are at least one of these, we associate the word Defender with the ultimate protection and the OtterBox Defender series doesn’t disappoint.

OtterBox adds a new member to its Defender series with the latest Defender for the new iPad (iPad 3). It still provides superior protection from drops, scratches, and the all too often fingerprint smudges. The new Defender has been tweaked to give maximum protection. The new Defender has a built-in screen protector along with the polycarbonate interior for protection from bumps and scrapes while the silicone outer skin absorbs impact from accidental drops. The screen protector shield is multi-purpose in that it not only protects the screen of the iPad, it also acts as a stand when using the iPad. The shield also has “smart” in that it works like Apple’s Smart Cover in that the iPad automatically goes into standby when the screen protector shield is on and awakens the iPad when removed.

The new OtterBox Defender is compatible with the new iPad as well as the iPad 2 and is available now.
