Let’s speculate. In less than 24 hours, Microsoft will be announcing something that “you will not want to miss.” At 3.30pm Pacific Time (6.30am Local) Microsoft will be announcing something in Los Angeles, California. Wild rumors are being thrown out hoping that at least one of them will be right.
However, one of the rumors seem to be prevalent. That is, Microsoft will be announcing its own tablet that the software giant will brand itself. Microsoft isn’t unfamiliar with the hardware business as it has its own PC accessories such as mice, keyboards, and webcams. It has also built and sold the Xbox and the sucessor, Xbox 360. It has also been speculated that the announcement will also involve Xbox Live in some fashion. Probably built into the tablet that will communicate with the Xbox 360 and provide streaming content.
The Microsoft tablet will most likely be a consumption device such as what the Amazon Kindle Fire and the Barnes and Noble Nook tablet are. Speaking of Barnes and Noble, the other rumor is that the B&N will be making the tablet that will be running Windows 8 or its ARM-derivative, Windows RT, as it has recently been announced that Microsoft has entered a strategic relationship with B&N by investing $300 million to the bookstore’s digital and college businesses.
