Apparently Apple is seeking to patent a “thin flexible display technology can be integrated into the flexible cover without affecting the overall form factor of the cover or tablet device” according to the USPTO. In other words, a Smart Cover that also doubles as a secondary display. Power and data would be derived from a dedicated connector on the side to act as a supplementary display with space for extra icons, a media controller, or display notifications. Though as with most patents, we probably won’t be seeing this anytime in the near future.
