After a change in focus, geared more towards e-commerce in Indonesia and the Philippines, Multiply has decided to shut down its social media services after eight long years. This news came in the form of an announcement on the site by Multiply CEO Stefan Magdalinski, who said users would not be able to share pictures, videos, and blogs starting December 1.
This decision resulted from the Multiply team concluding that “other Internet sites who are committed to social networking services will do a better job serving you than we can.” They will discontinue providing and hosting these services and after a period of time content will be deleted. For existing social networking users, Multiply will be providing a way for them to either download or migrate all the information you had on your Multiply sites.
Multiply’s focus will now be on the burgeoning Southeast Asian market, focusing on retaining its status as a vibrant e-commerce destination.
