As the new iPhone’s release looms closer, more and more parts seem to be leaked. A photo of another leaked part from Apple.pro shows a possible area which could host an NFC chip.
There’s a high probability of the new iPhone having NFC capabilities as evidenced by various the various Apple patents which have NFC chips placed in the same general location, coupled with 9to5Mac’s discovery of NFC code in hardware dumps from iPhone prototypes.
If used with PassBook, Apple’s mobile wallet app that currently utilizes QR code, Google Wallet and similar services that utilize NFC could be facing some stiff competition.
