Talk about choice! Samsung’s PMP (Portable Media Player). the Galaxy Player, has had a number of iterations which has seen it grow from a player with 3.6″ display to 4″ to 4.2″ and to 5″. Announced ahead of this year’s Samsung Mobile Unpacked in Germany, this latest model in the series makes the Galaxy Player even bigger with almost a full-inch increase as the Korean Electronics Company announces the Galaxy Player 5.8.

As the name suggests, the new Galaxy Player has a 5.8″ display. Despite its size, unlike the Samsung Galaxy S III 720p resolution however, the new Galaxy Player’s resolution is lower at 960×540. It will also have 1GB RAM and will come in 16GB and 32GB models. It will also be a bit thicker than the Galaxy S III as well as being larger because of the bigger battery which is rated at 2,500mAh.

Looking at the design, the Galaxy Player 5.8 is just like its predecessors which has been pressed under a rolling pin to make it larger with hints of the Galaxy S III styling. It’s speakers are on both end of device which is just like its predecessors and the current Galaxy Tabs.

The player will run Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). You won’t be able to make calls with the Galaxy Player as it does not have any mobile phone capabilities but it will have Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi-N, GPS, and even a microSD slot.

Aside from the the specs stated above, there isn’t much to go on such as the processor, price, and launch date of the new Galaxy Player.
