(Update: Specs and features have been released and added below.)
At this year’s IFA technology expo in Berlin, Sony announced three new Xperia smartphones, the Xperia T, V, and J. Nope, not the Philippine Comedy Trio Tito, Vic, and Joey.
According to Kazuo Hirai, CEO of Sony, the Xperia T will be the new flagship Xperia smartphone. It will have a 4.6” HD Reality Display and use Sony’s Mobile Bravia Engine. It will also have NFC enabled. The 13MP rear-facing camera will be capable of recording full 1080p videos while the front camera will record 720p videos. Running all these is a 1.5GHz dual-core processor and Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) which will be upgraded to Jelly Bean after the launch. It will come in Black, Silver, and White. And because it is a Sony, the Xperia T is PlayStation Certified.
Also announced is that the James Bond will be using the Xperia T in the latest 007 movie, Skyfall, so watch out for that.
As for the Xperia V, it will be a bit smaller than the Xperia T at 4.3″ HD Reality Display which is powered by the Mobile Bravia Engine 2. It will have the same 13MP rear-facing camera as the Xperia T as well as the 1.5GHz dual-core processor. It will have NFC as well as LTE capability. It is also weather-resistant from dust and water. It will also run Android 4.0.4 (Ice Cream Sandwich) and will be upgraded to Jelly Bean. The Xperia V is also be PlayStation Certified and will come in Black, Pink, and White.
The Xperia J is the budget phone with its 4.0″, 5MP rear-facing camera. It also has a front camera and will come in Black Gold, Pink, and White.
