At the Sony Press Con at IFA in Berlin, Germany, Sony announced that it is extending the Xperia brand to Tablets.
The Sony Xperia Tablet S is a 9.4″ Android tablet running Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The display is a 1280×800 IPS display. While no specific speeds were stated, the Xperia Tablet S is using Nvidia’s Tegra 3 chipset with a quad-core processor. It has Bluetooth 3.0, and WiFi-N. The Tablet S will also have a 3G model and will come in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB storage options. It has an 8MP rear camera and a 1MP front camera. The Xperia Tablet S has a 6000mAh battery.
To differentiate the Xperia Tablet S for other Android tablets, it has a Guest Mode which creates individual profiles which is useful for family members and even guests. ClearAudio+ gives you enhanced audio no matter what content you are playing.
The Sony Xperia Tablet S will be available in September.
