Instead of a happy weekend, Globe Subscribers, especially in the southern part of Metro Manila were greeted with network connections failures which resulted in failed calls and SMS messages not being sent and received.

Globe, through their blog, has confirmed that the service interruption was caused by a “connectivity issue within their network systems.”

The interruption started on Saturday, September 1st and by Sunday evening (Sept. 2), “we were able to restore call services partially, as certain affected areas have already reported service improvements.” The connection issue has been completely resolved of today, September 3.

Globe’s Twitter account, responded that it was aware of the problem.

All seems to be well though as Globe will be offering rebates to affected postpaid and prepaid subscribers in the affected areas. They will be notified through SMS regarding the details of the rebate.

Unfortunately, all those calls and messages last weekend has fallen to the ether and will never be recovered.
