Nokia recently introduced the Lumia 920 with an ad featuring its PureView optical image stabilizing capabilities. The ad itself was quite simple featuring the phone and a generic couple using it around town.
The problem however was that as many netizens pointed out was that the video touting the Lumia’s Pure View capabilities was in fact not shot with a Lumia phone. What sparked outrage was that Nokia failed to acknowledge the fact that the video was merely a representation of what it could do and not the real deal. Many companies do the same, but they still acknowledged that the footage is a simulation.
After the news made its rounds around the Internet, Nokia took notice and quickly issued an apology in a blog post entitled “An apology is due” by Heidi Lemmetyinen. The company admits that they “should have posted a disclaimer stating this was a representation of OIS only”. In response to the problem they released another video on their channel using footage shot from a Lumia 920.
