It looks like Globe Telecom has jumped the gun on the imminent release of Apple’s latest iPhone when they sent a spam text to their subscribers.

On the text message:

The latest phone is almost here! Be sure to get it only from Globe, the leader in Postpaid. Interested to get updates? Text iP5<space>Email Address and send to 2910 for Free.

From the image we can see that the text was sent just a few minutes ago on Sept. 7, 2012 at 7.22pm.

The text adds even more credence that the name of the Apple’s new iPhone will be the iPhone 5 and that it will be announced at the Apple event on Sept. 12. This is after Globe’s announcement of the availability of their nanoSIMs for postpaid subscribers. It is also implied, though a bit vague from the wording that the iPhone 5 will be exclusive to the network. We can only speculate though as to when the iPhone 5 will be arriving to Philippines. But from the early texts such as this, some would hope that the iPhone 5 will come as soon as the Apple smartphone is announced.

Well they didn’t specifically say iPhone of course, but they did say iP5 as the keyword. I’d call this a gray area dude. 😛

I guess they’re also trying to be safe and avoid offending big bad Apple.
