If you think Nokia’s announcement of the Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 means that they are stopping the their low-cost Symbian phone, you’d be wrong. Nokia has announced a new addition to the Asha series, the Asha 309.
By all accounts, the Asha 309 is a full-fledged smartphone that offers the web experience with the new Nokia Xpress Browser and the ability to download apps from the Nokia Store. The new Nokia Xpress Browser is more efficient than the previous versions as well as the ability to stream content from sites like YouTube. The Asha 309 comes with a 3″ WQVGA display, stereo radio, and a microSD slot with support of up to 32GB. The smartphone is also 2G-enabled with WiFi.
According to Nokia, the Asha 309 is their most affordable capacitive touchscreen device to date. They are estimating that when the phone is released, it will cost around $99 or PhP4,133. Expect to see the Asha 309 before the end of 2012.
