JEDEC announces DDR4 RAM specs

The JEDEC Solid State Technology Association has brought order to DDR4 production by announcing their own official standards that provides higher performance with improved reliability and reduced power.

The new DDR4 per-pin data rate is specified at 1.6 giga transfers per second at the minimum to a maximum of 3.2 giga transfers per second with higher speeds expected in future updates. Speeds will start at 2133MHz, faster than the average speeds achieved with DDR3.
