Facebook is now rolling out their Promoted Posts service to users in the US for a $7 fee They hope that the service will be used as a way to bring attention to wedding photos, a garage sale, or any other important news so that your friends and subscribers are more likely to notice it.
Testing for Promoted Posts first started in New Zealand in May and has already rolled out in more than 20 countries and is available only to users with less than 5,000 total friends and subscribers. Prices are still being tested so it may go up or down across international markets in the future.
After a post is published, it gives you another Promote option, other than the usual Like, Comment, and Share. It pushes your post higher up in the news feed and more friends can see it. Once promoted, the post will be marked “Sponsored” and you’ll see how many of your friends have viewed the post.
