HP has recently unveiled their two newest HP ProLiant Generation 8 (Gen8) four-socket servers with enhanced virtualized performance and can facilitate a customer’s move to the cloud.

HP’s ProLiant BL660c and DL560 Gen8 servers are the industry’s first four-socket servers that incorporate HP ProActive Insight architecture, which reduces maintenance times through the continuous and automated monitoring of system health.

As more and more clientsvirtualize their compute-intensive applications for increased efficiency, they sometimes run into performance bottlenecks from traditional two-socket servers. HP has seen the need to help customers facilitate the move towards a private and hybrid cloud system for greater utilization and efficiency.

The new multiprocessor Gen8 servers serve as the building blocks for HP Converged Infrastructure that provide a foundation for creating private and hybrid cloud systems.

The HP ProLiant BL660c Gen 8  has a three-to-one server-consolidation rate, provides four-socket density for half the size of the previous generation which reduces the cost of ownership by up to 30 percent. The DL560 Gen 8 has a 2U form factor without compromising performance, scalability or expansion requirements.

The new Gen 8 servers provide improved storage with the first integrated PCIe 3.0 storage technology, doubles input/output bandwidth and performs up to six times faster than previous generations. Their enhanced VM support with memory design is five times more dense and delivers lower latency.
