RIM announces BlackBerry JamHack 2012

Research in Motion (RIM) announced their Asia Pacifc (APAC) hackathon, BlackBerry JamHack. The JamHack is set to take place in ten different cities around APAC over two consecutive weeks. Finalists from each city will represent their country at the JamHack finals at BlackBerry Jam Asia on 29th-30th November 2012.

The Philippine leg will be on October 12th-14th at the Alphaland Southgate Mall, (6F, Boracay and Balesin Function Rooms), Pasong Tamo Extension corner EDSA, Makati City.

The 40-hour event provides four-member teams, comprised of developers, UI designers, and/or marketers to create app for the BlackBerry 10.To ensure teams are properly equipped, RIM’s Developer Relations team will be providing round the clock support.

Throughout the event, the RIM team will also be providing market insight at each respective city so developers can create both market-relevant and globally attractive apps. The two-day event also includes community sharing session called JamBytes. During these JamBytes, participants have the chance to learn tips and tricks about the BlackBerry 10 platform, advice on their applications, and commercial strategies for marketing their apps through BlackBerry’s App World.

The ten winning teams get an all-expenses paid trip to BlackBerry Jam Asia in Bangkok, representing their city in the Asia Pacific Finals. The final winners will be judged by a panel of judges, while BlackBerry Jam Asia attendees will be able to cast a vote.

The winning team will win a grand prize of:

  • US$10,000 in cash
  • All-expense paid trip to BlackBerry 10 global launch
  • BlackBerry App World™ marketing for 2 months following the BlackBerry 10 launch in Asia, Middle East and Africa (where applicable) plus 1 week marketing in North America, Latin America and Europe (where applicable)
  • Dedicated technical & business consultancy for up to three months after the launch of BlackBerry 10 in the team’s market
