It seems that Microsoft has grown tired of Windows Live Messenger and will soon be replaced by Skype. According to The Verge, Messenger is set to be retired in the coming months and integrated into Skype. Microsoft has been slowly shuffling people around over the past few months and around 80% of Skype IMs sent were handled by Messenger already.

Announcements on Windows Live Messenger’s retirement will come soon, possibly next week according to sources. Skype has already begun linking Microsoft accounts to Skype login names in an effort to integrate the two.
