Looks like we could be seeing an iPhone 5S pretty soon. DigiTimes is reporting that Apple is expected to begin trial production of of its new iPhone 5S, possibly in December, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report. Initial production will likely be around 50,000-100,000 units.

“Facing low yield rates in the production of iPhone 5, Apple has accelerated the certification processes for related parts and components for the iPhone 5S, the paper revealed.”

The paper speculates that the new iPhone 5S could begin volume production in the first quarter of 2013, with a new iPad in the pipeline a quarter later. This means that the iPhone 5S could be out sooner than expected.

The first few iPhones launched on a mid-year cycle, then the iPhone 4S started a fall-release cycle, which the iPhone 5 also followed. With this advanced trial production, we could be seeing a mid-year release for the iPhone 5S. Whatever the case may be, we should be hearing more information in the coming months.
