The specifics of the HTC and Apple agreement may have been kept confidential, but market analysts have estimated that HTC may pay Apple $6-$8 per phone in a net licensing fee. HTC is estimated to ship about 30 million to 35 million smartphones in 2013 and with the licensing fee would net Apple between $180 million and $280 million.

This may look like a small amount for Apple who is expected to earn about $48 billion in the next fiscal year, but is greater than the $5 HTC pays Microsoft for every phone running Android. Analysts believe that this settlement could affect Apple’s ongoing lawsuits and move them closer to similar settlement arrangements.
