Along with the Canon EOS-M, a couple of new PowerShot cameras: the PowerShot G15, PowerShot S110, PowerShot SX50 HS, and PowerShot SX500 IS were launched. The group includes the world’s first 50x optical zoom and Canon’s fastest auto-focus.

PowerShot G15

First off is the 12.1MP PowerShot G15 which utilizes the same DIGIC 5 imaging processor present in the 650D, EOS-M and 6D. With the fastest Auto-Focus in its class, the G15 can focus in on a subject in just 0.17 seconds. Its Dual Axis Electronic Leveling system brings up a graphical indicator, helping you maintain level shots, preventing skewed photographs. All the controls are concentrated on the right for easy single-hand operations. The G15 has built-in flash, but if needed you can attach a separate flash to the hotshoe. The slim and compact PowerShot G15 can take amazing photos and still fit snugly in your pocket and comes with a 6.1-30.5mm lens.

PowerShot S110

Next off is the PowerShot S110, similar to the G15 with 12.1MP and DIGIC 5 imaging processor. The difference is that the S110 is a touchscreen camera without a hotshoe. A f/2.0 aperture and enhanced HS system make low-light photography a breeze. With the new Handheld Night Scene mode, say good bye to blurry images and excessive noise which is achieved by taking two shots, one with flash and one without and are then automatically integrated, properly exposing the subject while maintaining ambiance. The S110 also has WiFi connectivity allowing you to connect to smartphones and tablets, instantly sending images to the devices, or wireless printing through compatible printers such as Canon’s Selphy compact photo printer. Similar to the G15, it has a slim and lightweight body, perfect for your pocket.

PowerShot SX50 HS

The PowerShot SX50 HS, more like a DSLR-type camera than the G15 and S110 features a 12.1MP sensor, 50x optical zoom lens, and an electronic viewfinder with 202,000 dots. With the 100x ZoomPlus telephoto feature, its zoom can extend up to 24000mm. With the Zoom Framing Assist Seek button, framing zoomed pictures is easy as it quickly zooms out first to let you located the subject when pressed while keeping the zoomed-in frame within guiding borders. Once depressed, the lens will revert to its previous zoom position. It has 58 automatic scene modes, perfect for any shot that you might want to take. The SX50 HS has a movable LCD for those odd-angled shots.

PowerShot SX500 IS

The PowerShot SX500 IS comes with a 30x optical zoom lens with a 16MP sensor and DIGIC 4 image processor. Its similar in size with the SX50 HS and has telephoto qualities as well. The Zoom Asist Seek button is also available on the SX500 IS so you can easily frame your zoomed photos.

Any WiFi-enabled Canon cameras can connect with the Selphy compact photo printer and print your stunning photographs on the go. The Selphy is available or P7,998 and ink and paper are available for P1,498.

The PowerShot G15 is available for P28,998, while the PowerShot S110 and PowerShot SX50 HS are available for P25,995, and PowerShot SX500 IS retails at P18,998.
