A few days ago we told you about how Samsung wanted to to the details of the Apple and HTC settlement. Now Reuters reports that a US judge has ordered Apple to disclose to their competitor Samsung the details of their settlement with HTC, including the terms of their 10-year patent licensing agreement. The South Korean company had filed paperwork to force Apple to reveal the details of the agreement because they are “almost certain” that some of the patents involved affect their patent litigation with Apple.
Experts say that the details in the agreement could be instrumental for Samsung to disprove Apple’s permanent sales ban request of its products. Apple requested a permanent sales ban after it had won their previous litigation with Samsung, with a $1.05 billion verdict. The court ordered Apple to produce a full copy of the agreement with an Attorneys-Eyes-Only designation.
In addition this, Samsung also requested the court to add the Apple iPod Touch 5, iPad 4, and iPad mini to the list of devices they claim infringed on some of its patents.
