Instagram has finally cut ties with it’s former ally, Twitter, after being recently acquired by Facebook. In a Twitter Status Update, the Twitter has said that “Instagram disabling its Twitter cards integration” has caused issues with some users seeing cropped images. Twitter cards are used to display images and content from within Twitter messages.
At first Twitter and Instagram worked closely together during the photo app’s early days. Since Facebook’s acquisition of Instagram, both have now become close competitors, vying for the same users. With this move, Instagram is driving more users to its own website, rather than being app based. Before the change users could view Instagram images directly through tweets.
