Samsung’s Exynos processors power some of the fastest devices in the market. 2013 is a big year for Samsung as it unveils a new 8-core mobile processor. That’s right 8 cores The new Exynos 5 Octa utilizes ARM’s big.LITTLE processor technology that switches between two clusters of four cores each, from a high-performance Cortex-A15 to a low-power Cortex-A7 for normal workloads to provide better battery life.
Multiple cores for heavy to light workloads isn’t something totally revolutionary as others have already done the same. But Samsung boasts a 70 percent decrease in power consumption by delegating common tasks to the low-power A7. So we should be expecting these powerhouse processors to appear in Samsung’s next-generation devices in the near future.
