ASUS was quiet on the tablet front during this years CES, but the company has unveiled its 7-inch MeMo Pad post-CES. The 7-inch (1024 x 600) slate runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, powered by a Mali 400 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage and a 1MP front-facing camera. Its simple tablet-only device, lacking a Transformer Pad-like keyboard dock. Looking quite similar to its Nexus 7 predecessor, though with less powerful specs, the MeMo Pad will be available for $150.
ASUS looks to be targeting other low-cost slates with the MeMo Pad as it will be available in “selected markets” which could include the Chinese market where cheap tablets flourish. The MeMo Pad could be a welcome addition to the low-cost tablet segment in the Philippines as more and more Filipinos become tech-savy on a budget.
