The Supreme Court of the Philippines has just extended its temporary restraining order (TRO) on the controversial RA 10175, or the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, which it had issued last October. Previously the SC had issued a 120-day TRO that was set to expire tomorrow, February 6, but has now extended it for an indefinite period “until further notice.” This decision comes after numerous petitions were filed against the act questioning its constitutionality, among which are the criminalization of libel and real-time data collection by government agencies, and many others.
