At times, the older generation has difficulties working with newer technology, such as smartphones. Now, Fujitsu is announcing its first step into the smartphone¬†market outside of Japan with its 4-inch senior-friendly smartphone¬†starting in France with Orange telecom. The phone is a variant of the Japanese Raku Raku Smartphone F-12D, which will be called the Stylistic S01. It sports a simplified UI interface with oversized icons so that it’s target market can more easily use them.

Just because it’s aimed at the elderly doesn’t mean it’s a pushover. The Stylistic S01 sports a 4-inch 800 x 480 display, a 1.4GHz processor, an 8MP camera while running on Android 4.0 ICS. Along with the oversized icons, the phone app also has features that help those hard of hearing that can slow down the voice on the other end of the line. This is just the first step in Fujitsu’s plan to bring the senior-friendly device overseas. Hopefully we’ll be seeing the device in the country as well.
