Is it a tablet? Is it a phone? Nope, it’s both. Alongside it’s PadFone Infinity, ASUS has also unveiled its FonePad, a 7-inch tablet that also has built-in phone capabilities at MWC 2013. Under the hood is an Intel processor, a 1.2GHz Atom Z2420, a PowerVR SGX540 GPU, 1GB of RAM, and either 8GB or 16GB of storage that’s expandable with a MicroSD. It runs Android 4.1 Jelly Bean on a 7-inch, 1280 x 800 IPS display and comes with a large 4,270mAh battery that’s said to last up to nine hours of runtime. Imaging is care of a front 1.2MP, while some models will have a rear 3MP camera as well. Around back are the micro SIM slot and microSD reader as well as the usual connectivity antennae like the HSPA+ radio.
Clad in a smooth metal, the FonePad comes in either Titanium Gray or Champagne Gold. The ASUS FonePad will be available in Europe for EUR 219 (about Php 11,600) around late Q2.
