From concept to reality, the Instagram Socialmatic Camera, designed by ADR Studio becomes a reality. Inspired by the Polaroid OneStep, Socialmatic has signed a deal to create a Polaroid-branded version of its concept camera that translates the mobile app’s icon into a real-world, instant-print shooter. If everything goes as planned, accessory maker C&A Marketing will create and sell the camera sometime in Q1 of 2014.
Details are sparse, but if the finished product follows the concept, it should sport a 4.3-inch touchscreen, 16GB storage, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and interchangeable lenses. Instagram users could soon be shaking their filtered photos “like a Polaroid picture” with a built-in printer that supports multiple ink cartridges. The deal includes accessories such as camera bags, lenses, and filters. No word on whether it will be an Instagram-only device or if it will support other social networks. If it takes off, we could see a resurgence of the iconic Polaroid picture.
